I’d say Charlie Brown. Not because he’s clumsy, but because he embodies the experience of putting sincere effort into worthwhile things and repeatedly coming up empty, while somehow finding the will to try again. I am an adult version of that: capable, hopeful, and persistently overlooked rather than foolish. Having football constantly held up for me, then jerked out of the way.
But set that aside, I never give up. I never let it get me down. I keep on, keeping on.
Things never came easy to Charlie. And they’ve never come easy for me either. However, when they finally do, it’s spectacular.
